The Rap Game UK: Krept & Konan and DJ Target announce second series after debut season received over three million iPlayer requests

Following the success of its debut season, The Rap Game UK will return once again in 2020.

The show has been commissioned for a second series containing six sixty-minute episodes after the first edition generated over three million requests on BBC’s iPlayer service. The Rap Game UK features Krept & Konan and DJ Target ‘putting seven unsigned MCs head to head in a battle’, with the winner earning a record deal with Play Dirty records.

The first series saw a host of known faces serve as guest mentors, including AJ Tracey, Mist, Stefflon Don and Lady Leshurr. Kiico won the first season and is currently supporting Krept and Konan on their ‘Revenge is Sweet’ tour, which included a show at the O2 Arena. Kiico also featured on a track called ‘Greazy’ alongside on the Play Dirty duo, as part of the soundtrack to Rapman’s debut feature film ‘Blue Story’.

Speaking on the return of the show, Krept & Konan said: “The Rap Game UK is back again. We can’t wait to find our next signing and help develop six new artists and take them on that journey. People can get applying right now”.

In an interview prior to the release of series one, DJ Target spoke on the gap in the market The Rap Game UK aims to fill: “There hasn’t been much for me to scream and shout about on UK talent shows in the past, especially when it comes to rappers; that’s why this programme is so necessary and relevant. We’ve been working very hard to deliver something that’s real.”
